How to Enjoy your Last Leg of Pregnancy
Pregnancy as we all know it, has stages. Some of it, is hard to deal with and some of it is actually not bad at all if I dare say even slightly pleasant. The second trimester was my favorite part as you finally start to truly show and can share the news with friends and family, you no longer have to worry about looking "chubby" because you haven't announced anything yet. You get this nice burst of energy everyday and feel light on your feet. You basically feel pretty normal except you've got this glow about you. Enter the last leg of pregnancy and you start to notice the downhill slide. Joints begin to hurt, you find yourself gasping for air between sentences or after a few steps of stairs, you can't seem to find a comfortable position sitting in a couch, let alone a chair, your back is killing you, and you can't sleep well anymore. Doesn't sound all that enjoyable right? So here's my advice having gone through pregnancy once...Travel and enjoy yourselves as much as possible during your second trimester. And as you enter your last leg of pregnancy, try your best to do things and enjoy the last few months you have with your significant other. Because once that baby pops out, you won't be solo for a long long while. Since your energy is low at this point and you feel like a whale when you walk it's probably best not to do any serious traveling, which makes Staycations ideal. Yes, Staycations can help make your last leg way more pleasant. Pick a nice hotel that has everything you need within a very short walking distance (great restaurants on premise, a cool bar, nice spa, maybe a pool, gardens, etc) You are basically going there to stay there and do everything there. Think plushy robes, huge showers, spas, room service, turndown service...Oh and another perk we overlook is the 5 star hotel beds. While I love my own bed A LOT, I also do realize that once the baby comes, I'll be spending a TON of time in my own bed, way more than than I would like. So why not spend your last few weeks in those huge hotel beds with perfectly starched and ironed bedsheets made for you everyday to change it up, at least until you are due.
I was fortunate enough to do quite a bit of traveling towards the end of my term, with approval from my OB/GYN of course. For one of our trips we chose the Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is Zika Free which was our top priority (most tropical beachy spots were totally off the list), and it's a major city with great hospital and medical care, in case anything random were to happen (be sure to select places with nearby hospitals just to be safe, so nothing too remote), it's a major city, meaning we can find any food we want or crave and you'll be sure to get it. It's super easy to get around in case you feel adventurous and want to get out.
In this case, the Ritz Carlton itself is located next to a major mall with everything you can possibly want along with a nice movie theater. So we never really left as we were able to eat at restaurants, cafes, and bars that were minutes away by foot. We had a great spa at our disposal, a swimming pool to fight those aching joints above the hotel, and a fabulous room with gorgeous views and a heavenly bed that would be sure to put any pregnant woman at ease.
So ladies, if you want to finish your last leg of pregnancy in good spirits and feeling rejuvenated, get out, do things with your significant other, relax outside of your home as much as possible, find a hotel you two can nestle in at for a few days. Order room service, watch a movie in bed...enjoy those last bits of romantic uninterrupted bliss.
Below are some perks we enjoyed at the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong
1. Large rooms with incredible views
2. Plenty of great food options so you never have to leave the premise
So heed my advice ladies, take those staycation trips with your hubby on weekends. It will make those last few weeks go by quicker and you'll feel way more relaxed and ready for the delivery as a result.
