Hi.

Welcome to my site. Here you will find exciting mashups of my very own recipes for the everyday home cook. I draw influences from my days working as an Executive Chef at my own Chinese restaurant in Downtown San Francisco, as well as inspiration from various cuisines I experience from all my travels.

ENJOY!

The benefit of staying where we stayed is the relatively easy access we have to other nearby towns and cities surrounding the various lakes. St Gilgen which is 30 minutes away by car is a cute little town that makes Salzburg look like a major city. St Gilgen also happens to be the birthplace of Mozart's mother, which they proudly display. You can see the entire town in an hour. Which means, you can add another town to your day trip. From St. Gilgen I would recommend going to Hallstatt (I will post in a separate blog on why Hallstatt should not be missed ). If you visit Salzburg, be sure not miss a day trip out to St Gilgen and Hallstatt.

After a day of touring we ended back in St.Gilgen and dined at a quaint little restaurant. Wirt am Gries came recommended by our hotel for having great weiner schniztel, a popular Austrian Dish. Aside it coming highly recommended, we also had limited choices. The town itself only has a handful of restaurants and of those, most were not open due to it being the day after Christmas. So Wirt am Gries it is!

The weiner schniztel was average in my opinion as the batter was not really crispy. The potatoes were sadly the best part of the dish as they had this lovely lemon infused flavor to it and was cooked just right. I would probably skip the weiner shchniztel and try some sort of stew instead.

I think overall I enjoyed the setting of the place more than the food:)
