Private Picnic with Water Color Session = Perfect Date in Yogyakarta, Indonesia
One of my favorite things about the Aman Resorts are the personally catered activities that they offer their guests. These lifetime experiences and excursions/activities are done only through their own guides and staff. You can go on guided one on one tours with experts on one day and then do a private picnic with your own personal server/butler who is available for you at any moment to assist and setup before leaving you to your own personal oasis. During our stay at Amanjiwo we booked two of these romantic private "dates" that they specially arrange for you as additional activities. The first one we did was the Private Breakfast Picnic with Water Coloring. I'll post another entry on our other private "date" at a villager's home.
For this "private experience" we had a picnic for two, setup on top of a hill with direct views of the famous Unesco Heritage Site, the Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java Indonesia. Your driver awaits you in the lobby early morning and takes you up through the jungle and drops you off near this hill. You take a short walk and approach a beautiful view of the Borobudur, facing this little patch of a hill where your butler awaits you with the picnic all ready to go
As we approach our picnic, you just want to pinch yourself to see if this is real. I don't know how much more serene this setup can be and how lucky we are to be here.
For breakfast, we got to pre-select which meals we wanted ahead of time so that it's all ready to go when we arrive. There's a Western Option and an Indonesian Option which is great in case you have a picky eater like my husband who may find some more traditional fare to be outside his palate. And if you both are adventurous eaters, then opt for both so you have a bigger selection and can share:)
I was in love with the beautiful woven rattan baskets lined with banana leaf and the entire setup. Isn't it absolutely adorable? I almost didn't want to eat and mess everything up.
Perched on this beautiful hill with only the sounds of wind and birds chirping, you really feel at one with nature. At one point, we spotted two elephants passing through taking some folks on a trek through the hills.
Once you are done with your picnic, they remove everything and set up your water color station. There you get to enjoy your date, painting whatever inspires you from your surrounding.
And since we had the perfect view of the Borobudur it made sense for us to paint that. So my hubby and I agreed to paint the same thing and see how it would turn out.
Our end product wasn't so bad right??
Thank you Amanjiwo for setting up such a fun and memorable activity for us. It was just perfect!!
